How Great is our God

Our youth group, CRUE, enjoyed watching the Louie Giglio video of How Great is our God, this last Wednesday. I had accidentally forgotten the order, not realizing that they should have watched Indescribable first. But our youth have learned the Tomlin song, How Great is our God, on Wednesday nights. Plus our choir has worked on the song for Sunday morning. We may sing it this Sunday morning. Both groups are doing it without music because the canned music is too hard to follow and we don't have a guitarist yet. But God answers prayer.

Ask Don and Rhelda how God answers prayer.

"For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works." (Titus 2:11-14)

Exceeding and Eternal Weight of Glory

Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:16-18)

Not only are we encouraged that our fatigue and weariness is bearable in light of the reward, we are encouraged to put ourselves out - to push ourselves for the sake of the Kingdom of God to the point of affliction and exhaustion in order to reap that eternal reward. Cast your eyes away from the sparkle and lure of this world to see the things that are eternal. There the true Christian finds his treasures and His glory.

Moving ahead

We are finished with VBS! Good time was had by all. God bless with strength and patience for the workers. The children really enjoyed it. Let's follow up on that enthusiasm.

Brad will be preaching this Sunday (July 26) as part of his rotation each month. He really enjoys the opportunities to teach and preach on top of leading singing. Be praying that he gets over his cold by then, or singing might be difficult for him.

We started our Wednesday night Teen Bible study - CRUE. Pray for us as we grow and learn.

"Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest." (Luke 10:2)
